Four more Bristol youths arrested in motorcycle theft operation
'We are coming after you and we will catch you,’ is the message from Inspector Rob Cheeseman
FOUR more arrests have been made as part of Operation Buell, Avon and Somerset Police’s investigation into motorcycle theft in Bristol.
A recent spate of thefts culminated last week in the theft and torching of a classic Triumph Thunderbird. The bike was recovered immediately, and three arrests were made, two of which resulted in charges.
And in the early hours of Friday, four more arrests were made following two separate reports of youths attempting to steal motorbikes. The group managed to take one bike, however were unable to start the second, and fled the scene in a silver car.
Police spotted this car and the stolen bike on Bristol’s Muller Road at 4.35am and stopped the group.
After finding a pair of bolt-cutters and motorbike gloves in the car, they arrested a 15-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man on suspicion of going equipped for theft.
The stolen bike was returned to its owner.
Inspector Rob Cheeseman, who leads Operation Buell, commented: ‘This is another excellent result in our ongoing operation to disrupt and apprehend those brazenly stealing motorbikes in Bristol.
‘But while we are pleased to have four more in custody following the three other recent arrests, we will not rest on our laurels.
‘My message to those involved in this criminality is clear – we are coming after you and we will catch you.’
