MV Agusta gets creative and on trend with stylish comic series
MV Agusta gets right on trend by marketing its motorcycles through the medium of art with the launch of its MV Stories Web Comic Series
It’s fair to say marketing motorcycles has become a well worn trope for most firms where launches take place on familiar routes and the advertising is all blurry scenery/kicking up the dust off-road/cruising at the sexiest angle depending on what is being pushed.
But MV Agusta isn’t a brand that generally follows these marketing norms, even if it did land itself in a bit of hot water with its 2020 advertisement for the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro that eased from exotica to erotica to the delight of many and the distaste of many others.
This time though the Italian firm is getting creative in a whole new manner by creating a web comic series focused around its models and specifically their particular personas.
Having scouted (take a deep breath) the Scuola Internazionale di Comics di Reggio Emilia’s Academy of Visual Arts and New Media for some talent to bring its idea to life, the comics have been written by Tommaso De Stefanis with the penmanship the work of Davide Castelluccio.
“No two riders are the same,” reads the introduction on the MV website. “For this reason, every MV Agusta is a one-off, tailor made for the individual who will ride it.
“A second skin that tells about passion, technology and performance, but also about character, independent thought, and love for freedom. We have put all their stories down on paper – now it’s up to you to draw them on the road.”
Only the first of the series, titled MV Stories, is available on the firm’s official website at the time of writing - you can VIEW IT HERE - with another seven ‘coming soon’.
First up we have Cesare and his MV Agusta Turismo Veloce in the wistfully titled ‘Soul of the Mountain - The Road to Nemo’. We won’t spoil the plot but suffice to say they are expertly curated and a fun way to pass a minute or two, while it certainly strikes in an entirely different marketing direction than its peers right now.
If your appetite has been suitably whetted by Cesare’s adventure, then there are more tales to come featuring Maverick (Brutale), Valentina (Brutale Rush), Brando (Superveloce 800), Lewis (Dragster), Nikita (Brutale), Alain (Turismo Veloce Rosso) and Jordan (F3).
