Sébastien Loeb becomes Indian Motorcycle ambassador
Nine-time WRC rally champion, Dakar podium sitter, all-round extraordinaire Sebastien Loeb becomes an Indian Motorcycle ambassador!
You’ll know Sébastien Loeb for his countless WRC wins (80 victories, 120 podiums), you’ll know him for his Dakar podiums in 2017, 2019 and 2022 - you may even know him as the back-flipping athlete that was being primed for the Olympics before his rallying career took off. But now you’ll know him as a new Indian Motorcycle ambassador!
As is often the case with drivers at the top level, a love for motorcycles is often there underpinning it all - like Lewis Hamilton and his collaboration with MV Agusta, or more recently legendary Finn Kimi Raikkonen taking the role as MXGP boss for Kawasaki (with a racing career that started in motocross).
Loeb is no different, as he discovered his passion for motorsports atop a moped, taking part in regional races and trying his hand at motorcycle circuit & enduro racing in his earlier days.
Now, the 47-year-old from the northeast region of France, Alsace, will now ride an Indian FTR R Carbon to help spread the word of Indian Motorcycle.
Speaking on the new collaboration, Pierre Audoin (Indian Motorcycle National Manager, France) says:
“We are delighted to collaborate with Sébastien Loeb, who is a charismatic and talented personality. During our meeting, I discovered a real enthusiast, of cars of course, but also of two-wheelers, especially motorcycles with character like the FTR.
"I am very happy with this new partnership which goes against the grain of Sébastien’s traditional universe. Basing this partnership on the Indian FTR is a natural fit, it is a motorcycle with a unique style and performance, everything that Sébastien was looking for in his future motorcycle.”
The FTR Carbon R sets itself apart with an ‘ultra-torquey’ 1203cc V-Twin with 120 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. Top of the line and priced at £16,095, the Carbon model also features top-spec Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes & premium finishes.
“I am very happy to collaborate with Indian, I am seen more often behind the wheel than the handlebars, but I have always ridden to experience different sensations. I love riding whenever I get the chance, whether on the track or on the road, and the FTR has all the qualities necessary to have fun at any pace.
"In addition to the motorcycle, the spirit and the universe of Indian Motorcycle are part of a great openness and originality, and that suits me well.” Sébastien Loeb – Indian Motorcycle Ambassador
