What do you want to know about the Ducati Monster 797?
We’re riding the entry-level Monster on Friday
DUCATI IS launching its new Monster 797 over the next couple of days and we’ve been invited along to ride it in the south of France.
Unlike the new Monster 1200, the Monster 797 is an entry-point into the Ducati range – both for new riders and people curious about owning a Ducati.
The Monster 797 is powered by the air-cooled 803cc L-twin engine from the Scrambler, housed in a tubular steel trellis frame and putting outnm 75hp and 50.89lb/ft of torque.
Like many entry-level Ducatis, it features a double-sided swingarm, with front suspension handled by a Kayaba forks. There's a Sachs shock in the rear. Brembo M4.32 radial calipers and 320mm discs handle the majority of braking duties.
With that beefy tank and styling, it looks every bit the Monster and like its bigger stabemate, also features an LCD instrument panel, although with the lack of riding modes, traction and wheelie control and gear indicator means the simpler 797’s dash is less busy looking.
The bike also features nice touches like LED indicators and an LED tail light, plus a USB port under the seat.
Ducati says it’s a Monster that harks back to the original 1992 bike thanks to its traditional trellis frame and air-cooled engine.
Stay tuned over the coming days to find out how it rides and be sure to leave a comment below, or email simon@visordown.com with any questions you have.
