Triumph announces Akrapovic partnership for naked, adventure bikes
A new partnership has been confirmed between Triumph and Akrapovic specifically relating to exhausts for naked and adventure bikes
Triumph has confirmed a new partnership with Akrapovic regarding exhausts for the British brand’s naked and adventure bikes.
The new, "long term collaboration", as it is described by Triumph, will see Akrapovic and Triumph work together on a number of exhaust products for both naked and adventure bikes, as well as what Triumph calls “special projects” in a press release.
Indeed, Triumph’s newest motorcycle, its as-yet-unnamed 250cc motocross bike, will use an Akrapovic pipe in its MX2 World Championship spec.
The partnership’s roots are grounded in Triumph’s Grand Prix racing activities, in which it has supplied 765cc, three-cylinder engines to all Moto2 teams since 2019 (as well as those in the European Championship since 2021).
There, Akrapovic exhausts were used by the World Champion riders in 2021 (Remy Gardner) and 2022 (Augusto Fernandez), both riding for the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, as is this year’s current points leader Pedro Acosta. (A Triumph-powered, Kalex-framed ‘KTM’ continues to be one of modern racing’s strangest novelties.)
Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph Motorcycles said: “This collaboration is about offering our customers even more choice by extending our range of genuine Triumph accessories.
“Working with Akrapovič to develop new exhaust systems for our upcoming models, we can give riders the opportunity to enhance the response and feel of their new Triumph motorcycle, knowing that the two have been developed side by side.”
Davorin Dobočnik, CEO of Akrapovič added: “As a company, we are delighted to be entering into this new collaboration with Triumph. We are honoured to cooperate with such an iconic brand with a huge heritage. As companies we share similar values, and our engineers are already working alongside those from Triumph to develop exhaust systems for Triumph models across many genres of motorcycles, including versions that will surprise many.
“This is an exciting and important collaboration for Akrapovič, and it is one that we are all eager to be involved with to see what we can achieve as this collaboration grows and strengthens.”
Exactly when the first products of Triumph’s latest partnership will be released is uncertain.
