Zapp details new "easy to buy, easy to own" sales model
Zapp, the electric bike manufacturer, has announced details of a new sales model which it says is designed for customer convenience.
The British manufacturer, Zapp, has revealed details of its sales model which it says is designed to enhance convenience for its customers.
Zapp’s new sales model is referred to as “drop-ship-direct-to-customer” (DSDTC) and is part of what it describes as its “core philosophy”, which is to make its motorcycles “easy to buy, easy to own.”
Part of its sales model will see Zapp develop a network of online and global, physical “boutique-style” authorised resellers, where staff will be on hand to guide customers through the configuration process and Zapp i300 electric bikes will be available to test ride, Zapp says.
This network will be an expansion of Zapp’s existing sales network which currently includes the online configurator and sales platform which is accessible via the Zapp website.
Whether customers buy through the upcoming physical resellers or the online platforms, the order will be processed through the Zapp global sales platform, which Zapp says “offers customers assurance that they are getting the price offered on Zapp's website.”
Delivery of bikes will be completed “by a Zapper in a Zapper van,” Zapp says. ‘Zapper’ is the name Zapp gives to its technicians, and the ‘Zapper van’ will be equipped with tools and a spare parts inventory.
Zapp’s ‘built-to-demand’ manufacturing model means that the authorised resellers will not hold Zapp stock, but on a customer’s reception of their bike the authorised reseller will receive a commission from Zapp for that sale. Zapp also sees benefit in this model from a wastage perspective, as only the amount of bikes that need to be built to fulfil orders are actually built.
David McIntyre, Chief Commercial Officer at Zapp, said: "Zapp's sales model has been devised every step of the way to make its vehicles both easy to buy and easy to own. We're proud to offer a high level of customer convenience, from the point of configuration and purchase all the way through their ownership of the vehicle.
“Our agile manufacturing model means we can fulfil customer orders quickly and efficiently, which reduces financially wasteful and environmentally harmful wholesale stock build-up."
