Caberg, when developing its Pro Speak Evo intercom system, partnered with German specialists Cardo, creators of the Packtalk range. The idea of that partnership was to make an intercom system designed to be easily integrated into the Bergamo company’s own motorcycle helmets.
The idea is the same with X-Com, that it should be easy to use with and wear on a Nexx helmet. “The unit clips into a recess behind a removable flap on the shell, where it sits flush, well out of harm's way,” Nexx says.
The device includes both Mesh Intercom and Bluetooth technology. Using Group Mesh, up to 24 riders can connect with each other within a 1.2-mile radius, while using Bluetooth, up to 10 riders can be connected. Using Bluetooth, the device has a 13-hour battery life, while that drops to eight hours when using Mesh. When the charge runs out, the X-Com3 Pro can be charged on the move.
Additionally, X-Com3 Pro comes with dual device capability, which means the device can also be connected to a GPS device or smartphone simultaneously.
Sound is delivered via Harman Kardon speakers with built-in Advanced Noise Control, with the earphones and wiring all placed beneath the lining to aid comfort.
The Nexx X-Com3 Pro is available now at £339.98, and is compatible with the following Nexx helmets: X.WED3, X.WST3, Y.100R and Y100 helmets. Additionally, if buying the X-Com3 Pro together with a new Nexx helmet, you can save 16.66 per cent on the price of the intercom, equivalent to £56.54.
