Motorcycle Rider Arrested for Carrying Gun and Chihuahua
A Motorcycle rider in the United States has been arrested after possessing a gun, and of all things, a Chihuahua, while riding
A 56-year-old American has been caught and arrested by police after carrying a gun onboard his motorcycle. The rider, from Tennessee, was travelling to Michigan and was stopped by police after being caught speeding.
The incident took place last weekend and the rider involved was immediately arrested for having a loaded .45 caliber pistol, which, wait for it, was tucked away in his backpack and strapped to his motorcycle’s tank.
Yes, this motorcycle rider having a gun in his possession is both alarming and surprising, but then again, let’s remember that this is the United States. Then again, although guns are legal in the state of Michigan so long as you are over 18, you must obtain a permit to buy a handgun from a private seller or have a valid Concealed Pistol Licence (CPL) which the rider did not.
Just as big a question in my mind is why did he have a Chihuahua stashed away in his jacket? That doesn’t sound like a comfortable setup for both him, nor the dog. Bear in mind, Tennessee to Michigan is a 10-hour-plus journey.
In their statement, the Michigan State police said: “On Saturday, August 31st at approximately 2:35pm a trooper from the MSP Alpena Post stopped a motorcycle for speeding on M 32 near Gamage Rd in Alpena County.
“The rider, a 56-year-old man from Tennessee, said he and his chihuahua tucked inside his jacket were riding to visit his girlfriend in Michigan. The rider informed the trooper he had a concealed handgun in a backpack strapped to the gas tank of his motorcycle.
“The rider did not have a CPL. A loaded .45 caliber pistol was seized and the man arrested and lodged at the Alpena County Jail. The chihuahua was not taken into custody.”
Try as we might, we haven’t been able to find out what happened to the dog in the end.
