Husqvarna 901 Norden forges new path into ADV territories

The Husqvarna 901 Norden sees the Enduro MX specialists begin a new era as it enters the competitive large ADV tourer category for the first time

The Husqvarna 901 Norden has made its long-awaited bow as the Swedish marque’s maiden foray into the competitive adventure-tourer motorcycle market, boasting clean, cool styling and trusty mechanicals borrowed from KTM.

Two years on from the unveiling of a thinly-veiled concept version at EICMA in 2019, the Husqvarna 901 Norden stays true to the original with its upright stance and recognisable family colourways that stand it out from the KTM 890 Adventure machine it is based on.

Also the largest and most powerful motorcycle Husqvarna has had on sale since the 900cc Nuda roadster was launched under BMW ownership, the 901 Norden is pitched as a more road-orientated tourer compared with its KTM donor bike, albeit without entirely ignoring the manufacturer’s Enduro and Motocross based heritage.

Signatured by a striking split-level circular headlight dominating the front-end, the 901 Norden adds bluff fairing and chunky bodywork to differentiate it from its KTM sister model.

Underneath things become more familiar with an 889cc parallel-twin engine punching out 103hp putting it on a par with the new Honda NT1100, while it tips the scales at 204kg too.

With a history forged on trails, though the 901 Norden represents a new segment for the marque, it still taps into Husqvarma’s experience off-road, promising a reinforced frame that is tough and durable, but light and agile to ensure comfortable cruising speeds.

It also comes with trick WP APEX suspension developed by preferred KTM specialists WP Suspension, plus Bosch ABS and a trio of pre-loaded riding modes (Street, Rain and Off-Road), as well as an Explorer Mode that allows you to adjust the rider aids, throttle response and traction control to your own liking.
