Husqvarna E-Pilen electric naked teased in new sketches
A first look at the forthcoming Husqvarna E-Pilen electric naked motorcycle turns up in a company investor presentation and inevitably leaks straight away!
Husqvarna has revealed a first glimpse at what will become its first mainstream electric-powered motorcycle when it hits the market within the next couple of years,
Though a small company on its own, Husqvarna’s plans to electrify a portion of its motorcycle range is more advanced than most having been carried on the coattails of parent company KTM’s ambitious plans to beat its mainstream rivals to getting a bike on the road in Europe.
While KTM will attempt to harness its sporting essence with technology that - compared to the four-wheel industry - remains niche in motorcycles, Husqvarna’s green plans were somewhat less clear beyond a grainy sketch of an EV scooter that popped up in an internal presentation about future models last year.
This then is a first glimpse at a proper EV motorcycle from the Swedish marque, with this sketch leaking from an investor report and making their way to Motorcycle.com
There isn’t much to take away from the image itself other than the fact it is very clearly a child of Husqvarna’s distinctive design language, even if we detect a few more curves compared with the Vitpilen and Svartpilen and a touch of Triumph in its profile.
In terms of size - the so-called E-Pilen - appears destined to slip in below or around the Vitpilen, even if it could still end up costing more than the Svartpilen by then.
Under the skin the slide says the E-Pilen will get a modular battery system with either a 4kW or 10kW electric motor. As a reference, the Zero S/R - which will likely compete a class above this model - features a 14.4kW motor.
Timescales for the Husqvarna E-Pilen can be measured on string for now, but it’s almost certain to reach dealerships before many of its biggest rival and is bound to find particular favour in its native Scandinavia having spent years building and refining an excellent charging network.
