British Superbikes | Xavi Forés and FHO Racing part company
Xavi Forés and the FHO Racing BMW team have parted company by mutual agreement
MOTOGP exile Xavi Forés is to leave FHO Racing with immediate effect, meaning the Spanish rider will not contest the remaining rounds at Oulton, Donington, or Brands Hatch.
Forés has been a busy rider in 2021, contesting the British Superbikes for FHO Racing and also the FIM Endurance World Championship for the factory BMW team. The decision for Forés to contest solely in the EWC had been made before the Bol D’or last weekend.
That race didn’t quite go as planned for the Spanish rider after he sustained back and shoulder injuries in a testing accident prior to the event.
The news will be a blow for BSB, as despite Forés’ lacklustre performance at most rounds, the added attention the series got from having an ex-MotoGP and WorldSBK rider in the paddock – albeit mostly out of contention – would have been notable.
Speaking of the news, Forés said:
“I would like to thank Faye Ho and the whole FHO Racing BMW Team for the opportunity to ride with them this season. It was a very nice experience and despite a bit of bad luck with some injuries earlier in the year, I always felt at home.
“Now, after my incident at the EWC race weekend, I need to recover and try to be fit for the season finale in Most in a couple of weeks’ time. I want to wish the FHO Racing BMW Team all the best and send them all my support for the Showdown and in the future.”
