A GoFundMe page has been set up to encourage donations towards British Supersport Championship racer Cedric Bloch after he was left paralysed in an accident during the Snetterton round in September.

Bloch - competing with the Brigitz Motors & SDC Performance Kawasaki team - suffered a catastrophic brake failure during qualifying for Round 7 at the Norfolk venue, with the ensuing collision with the wall causing his bike to flip back on top of him.

Rushed to Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Bloch underwent a nine-hour operation to reconstruct his mid dorsal spine and drain his lungs.

However, the resultant injuries have had a devastating impact with Bloch now paralysed from the chest down. He also broke all of his ribs, his sternum, left tibia, knee and wrist.

Facing months of rehabilitation, Bloch - a father of two - will be transferred to Stoke Mandeville Hospital when he is stable enough to be transported.

The serious injuries mean a significant change to daily life, leading to Bloch’s family to launch a GoFundMe page to encourage donations to assist him in terms of care, equipment and living modifications. A target of £150,000 has been set with donations currently just under £30,000 since it was set up on October 2nd.

Bloch only began racing three years ago but was making swift progress  through the ranks, winning the Bemsee Rookie Championship in his first season before claiming the Bemsee Clubman Championship the following year.

Already a regular point scorer in what was his first season of British Supersport racing, the accident occurred on the back of his maiden top ten result at Thruxton.

“He’s a fighter, he’s brave and the strongest person I know,” wrote his sister Audrey on his Instagram page. “He will walk again with spinal rehabilitation and the progress of technology and science.

“I’ll never give up this hope and neither will he. Please be a part of making this dream come true.”
