Jason O’Halloran has continued to stretch his advantage in the 2021 British Superbike Championship (BSB) standings with another measured and confident eighth win of the season at Donington Park.

One of the BSB’s longest-serving riders now, the Aussie has blossomed into the dominant figure in BSB this year with a series of well judged wins, including a triple last time out at Thruxton.

It was form he was able to continue around the shorter configuration of Donington Park, shrugging off an indifferent opening few laps as he was shuffled down to fourth place and was engaged in an entertaining dice with McAMS Yamaha team-mate Tarran Mackenzie.

However, O’Halloran would pick his way up the order meticulously, dispatching of Christian Iddon for second on lap 11 before slipping past Honda’s Glenn Irwin - who had largely led from the start of the race - on lap 13.

From here O’Halloran wasn’t challenged thereafter, leaving behind the battle for second to Irwin and Mackenzie, with the Ulsterman - who scored a famous win at Donington Park last year on the Honda CBR1000RR-R’s debut - getting the edge on the Yamaha man.

Iddon had to settle for fourth to lose precious podium credits to O’Halloran, who has now amassed 44 additional points to the Ducati man’s 23.

Tommy Bridewell followed up his fellow Panigale rider in fifth, ahead of Ryan Vickers on the best of the Kawasaki ZX-10RRs, Andrew Irwin, Lee Jackson, Peter Hickman and Bradley Ray.
