Get ready for the Dakar with this satisfying rally service

The 2024 Dakar Rally starts this week, and what better way to get into the rally raid mood than by watching some extremely satisfying service area action

A new video from Red Bull takes you behind the scenes of the factory KTM rally team’s service area during a mid-race check-in.

As crazy as rally raid is as a whole, the service area perhaps has the potential to be the most hectic and chaotic place of all. Yet, the professionals never fail to make everything look totally calm and relaxed, and it makes for excellent viewing.

A new video from Red Bull Motorsports follows the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rally team as it prepares the KTM 450 Rally of two-time Dakar Rally winner Toby Price during a mid-race service at the Rallye du Maroc.

We feel like marketing giant Red Bull might have missed out on the ASMR audience with this particular video by sticking some vaguely upbeat music over the top of it, but it nonetheless makes for great viewing, as the most successful team in the last two decades of the Dakar goes to work.

Being a mid-race service, the bike needs to be cleaned up from its previous leg of competition before heading out for the next stage, and with Rallye du Maroc being a rally that consists of both dunes and rocky terrain there are a variety of issues to solve, parts to replace, and places to clean.

In places, the bike is given a fairly thorough rebuild - the suspension is removed at both ends, the clutch plates are replaced, the oil is changed, and you can watch it all happen in the video above.

The 2024 Dakar Rally kicks off this weekend on 6 January, where Toby Price will be aiming for his third win after missing out by only a couple of seconds in last year’s event to Kevin Benavides.
