HONDA will mark the 30th anniversary of the Fireblade in fine style this year by lavishing its entries for the 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB) and Isle of Man TT with a commemorative white, red and blue livery design.

Now in its seventh generation, the latest iteration of Honda’s venerable sportsbike - the 2022 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade - has been given a series of tweaks under the skin two years on from its world premiere with a specific aim to boost its performance on track in WorldSBK, BSB and on the roads.

This coincides with celebrations for the model’s anniversary, some 30 years on from the era-defining launch of the original CBR900RR Fireblade.

As a result, the 2022-specification CBR1000RR-R is paying homage to its origin story with the option of the white, blue and red finish synonymous with the CBR900RR.

It’s a look that will be recreated for the track too with Honda Racing revealing its take for the upcoming 2022 BSB season and roads campaign, which includes the Isle of Man TT and North West 200.

Coinciding with the unveiling of a new prominent sponsor in Motul, Honda will expand to a four-strong BSB rider line-up for 2022 with the retained Glenn Irwin, Ryo Mizuno, and Takumi Takahashi being joined by 2021 Superstock 1000 Champion Tom Neave.

On the roads, Honda will welcome back TT legend John McGuinness, with Irwin alongside him in the pursuit of more success on the North West 200 before making his much-anticipated debut on the Isle of Man TT.

“2022 is an exciting season for the team across both BSB and the Roads,” said team manager Havier Beltran.

“We have Tom stepping up into the Superbike class, John back on Honda machinery, Glenn finally making his TT debut, as well as celebrating 30 years of the Fireblade and we’re welcoming Motul as a new sponsor, which is the first time for us in the British Championship.

“Motul has a great pedigree on the Roads, as well as numerous successes across two-wheel motorsport, and we’re looking forward to getting the season underway and working with the team there.”
