Yamaha take almost 400 entries for 2022 YZ bLU cRU Cup
The one-make series has grown year-on-year and now almost 400 riders will take part.
THE Yamaha YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup will return in 2022, with over 390 riders taking part across all three classes.
Between the YZ65, YZ85 and YZ125 classes, 395 riders will participate in national championships across Europe to vye for their place in the SuperFinale in August.
August’s SuperFinale will take place at the MXGP of Charente Maritime at St Jean d’Angely, the final European round of this year’s Motocross World Championship, where the top 40 riders from each class will compete.
According to Yamaha, “The top three finishers together with two wildcards from each class at the SuperFinale will earn a place at the Yamaha bLU cRU Masterclass, an exclusive two-day event featuring expert tuition from Yamaha's factory MXGP (Maxime Renaux, Jeremy Seewer, Glenn Coldenhoff) and MX2 (Thibault Benistant, Jago Geerts) riders.”
After the Masterclass, one rider from the YZ125 class will be given a factory-supported ride for the 2023 EMX125 championship. Last year’s winner, Adrien Petit, for example, is competing this year with the JK Racing Yamaha squad and finished 14th overall with a 9-19 scorecard at the season-opening round in Matterley Basin.
From the YZ65 and YZ85 classes, one rider from each class will be selected after the Masterclass to be given GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) parts for their respective 2023 campaigns.
“A record number of more than 390 young riders from 27 countries have chosen to race in the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup in 2022, taking advantage of a program that not only nurtures the future stars of tomorrow but also offers them a structured, professional pathway to the very pinnacle of the sport,” Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha Motor Europe Marketing & Motorsport Director, said.
Pavesio added, “Even more satisfying is the fact that we are now attracting more young riders from overseas countries, such as Paraguay and Australia, extending the reach of the bLU cRU program far beyond European borders.”
Davide Luongo, the CEO of Infront Moto Racing, said, “As a promoter, it is very rewarding to see such investment from a manufacturer into the young generation, especially in the so important 65cc, 85cc and 125cc categories that are the base of the pyramid of motocross talents.”
