Kawasaki and Bimota have confirmed their full line-up for the 2025 WorldSBK season, as Axel Bassani is confirmed as remaining with the Provec team as it changes from Kawasaki to Bimota.

Ultimately, the switch from Kawasaki to Bimota is a branding one, as the Bimota motorcycle that will be used in WorldSBK next year will be derived from the ZX-10RR that Kawasaki currently races in the championship.

Bassani switched to Kawasaki from the Motocorsa Ducati team for the 2024 WorldSBK season, a year in which he has so far struggled to find consistent pace from the ZX-10RR.

On his continuation with Provec into its new Bimota era, Bassani said: ”What better venue than Misano to announce my continuation with the team and involvement with a project that combines skill and commitment from Japan and Italy!

"As part of my personal racing journey this will help me learn more and develop as a rider. It for sure feels like a logical step by step process for my career path. I am super happy for this opportunity and in terms of confidence and focus for the remainder of 2024 it allows me to invest all my time and energy into the task of points and podiums on the KRT Ninja ZX-10RR.”

Bassani's move was announced after Alex Lowes, the Italian's current teammate in the Provec team in its current Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK form, was confirmed as continuing with the team on the morning of the first day of this weekend's WorldSBK Emilia-Romagna Round.

Lowes joined Kawasaki in 2020 and has so far taken three wins in green, all in Phillip Island and including two at this year’s Australian Round.

On his continuation with the Provec team, Lowes said: “I believe this opportunity has come at the correct time. Along with Bimota, Kawasaki are putting huge effort into this new project.

“Utilising Kawasaki’s nearly 40 years of Superbike racing knowledge and success and also my personal experience with different manufacturers I believe this gives us the best chance to start from the best possible position with the new bike.

“I have shown that I am still improving and still fast and competitive at the front of WorldSBK. A big thank you to KMC, Bimota and Provec Racing for the faith shown in me. I’m happy to continue to be part of our racing family!

“I’m enjoying my racing a lot and we still have a lot to focus on during 2024. We had a nice start to the season with a couple of race victories but now our focus is on Misano. It’s a track I really enjoy, we had a test here recently and I felt strong on the bike let’s work hard focus and see what results we can take this weekend.”
