Ducati DesertX Discovery Promises ‘Adventure Without Limits’
The DesertX Discovery features new paint, engine and bodywork protection, luggage and other adventure touring accessories
Ducati has revealed a new version of its middleweight adventure motorcycle, as the DesertX Discovery makes its bow.
The bike utilises the stock Ducati DesertX as its base, meaning you get a 21-inch front wheel, optimised on- and off-road electronics, a 937cc 110bhp L-twin engine, top-spec suspension and brakes and a 21-litre fuel tank.
The new Discovery version of the DesertX then piles on a raft of extras, turning the all-singing and all-dancing ADV bike into the perfect cross-continent mile muncher. It gets engine and bodywork protection, including a sump guard, engine protectors, reinforced hand protectors, and a radiator grill. It then adds a larger touring screen and heated grips for when the weather turns sub-optimal. Further adding to the bike’s long-distance ability is the addition of a centre stand, handy for chain maintenance on the go, and the inclusion of a 76-litre aluminium adventure luggage set.
From there, the rest of the bike is as before, and as such still boasts the adjustable KYB 46mm front fork and rear shock, Brembo M50 callipers and 320mm discs at the front, tubeless wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR hoops, and a TFT dash that’s ready for Bluetooth connection and turn-by-turn navigation.
How much is the DesertX Discovery?
In the UK the DesertX Discovery comes in at £17,295 making it only £2,300 more than the base model DesertX, which seems like a decent price for the pile of additional kit on offer. It does, though, make the DesertX Discovery more expensive than the base version of the £16,995 Multistrada V4, which makes the entry-level MTS V4 seem like an even better deal!
