The jury is out as to what this model could actually be, although we’re guessing a new variation on the 776cc parallel twin-cylinder platform.

Suzuki has launched an interesting teaser for a new model, with the “Meet the 8” campaign mysteriously going live on the global website this morning.

In a typically teasing fashion, the webpage on the global Suzuki site simply depicts a sphere set against a darkened background. As you scroll down the webpage, though, a black ‘8-ball’ appears stage right, knocking the mysterious sphere out of view. Accompanying the graphics is a message which reads “Save the Date 4th July”, meaning we have until Friday to try and figure out what the bike actually is.

While the graphic clearly shows an 8-ball, which is widely believed to point to a new bike in the 800 family (which already includes the V-Strom 800s, GSX-8R and GSX-8S), exactly what the new model is remains a mystery.

Options could be a retro roadster, along the lines of the Z900 RS, or a cruiser along the lines of the CMX1100 Rebel. Suzuki could also be going for a more sporty tourer to run alongside the rugged V-Strom 800s, giving the Japanese brand a model that could go toe-to-toe with recently updated Yamaha’s Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT. For actual confirmation of that, we’ll have to wait and see, although handily we don’t have long to wait!

We’ll update this page when the official information lands.
