Huck Cycles reveals new Stinger electric motorcycle for 2023

American manufacturer, Huck Cycles, has announced a new addition to its electric motorcycle line-up for 2023 with the Stinger expected to ship in February.

Huck Cycles has announced its 2023 range of electric motorcycles, including the Stinger.



Huck is a manufacturer out of North Carolina, specialising in electric motorcycles, and the Stinger is brand new for 2023.

There is no doubt just from looking at the Stinger that it is aimed at riding which is not limited to the asphalt, and the option to choose dual sport tyres is a confirmation of this. 



Indeed, Huck specifies Yamaha dual sports bikes from the 1970s as its inspiration for the Stinger.



But what about the reality? Well, there is no ground clearance or ride height specified by Huck, but the seat height is set between 762mm and 812mm, while the suspension features an inverted front fork and a spring-air shock at the rear.

The size of the front brake is also unspecified, but we do know the calliper will be dual-piston.



At 90kg, the Stinger is a noticeably light motorcycle, too, although with a 3kW (4 horsepower) nominal output (6kW/8 horsepower peak) from the electric motor such lightness is almost a necessity. The energy consumption is another unknown, but the capacity for one battery is 3kWh, and you get two with the bike so the total capacity is 6kWh. 



Additionally, there are three performance modes:

  • Mode 1 limits the speed to 20mph and allows for a range of 100-120 miles
  • Mode 2 raises the speed to 30mph but reduces the range to 80 miles
  • Mode 3 allows for a top speed of 45mph, but reduces the range to 65 miles.

All of the above specifications are for the standard version, but there is also a “Performance Upgrades” option. 

With this option, the range and speed for the Mode 1 and Mode 2 riding modes remain the same, but thanks to a battery capacity increase to 7.2kWh means the Mode 3 top speed increases to 55mph. To help you get there, the peak output is increased to 8.5kW (11.4 horsepower).

Further to the powertrain improvements, the Performance Upgrades also affect the chassis. First, dirt tyres become an option alongside the dual sport choice, while the suspension at both ends now comes from DNM, who provide a MTG-RC shock and M-200S forks.

As for colours, both versions are available in five options: “Frost”, “Cyber”, “Crimson”, “Envy”, and “Midnight”. 

Finally, pricing. The standard Stinger comes in at $8,690, while the Performance Upgrades option is $9,999, with tax to be added to each of those, and Huck currently only market in the US, so international options are essentially not available. For those in the US, there is currently a discount for pre-ordering a Stinger early. Bikes will start to be shipped in early-February, and ordering yours now can save you 10%.
