HUSVARNA'S Vitpilen and Svartpilen were among the hottest bikes at EICMA last year.

And today Visordown's jammy editor Al is down in barmy Bristol getting his Husk on.

He's been riding both models this morning and seems pretty impressed. Maybe they aren't just KTM Dukes in fancy dress.

Here's what he has to say so far:

"We’re out in Bristol trying out the new Husqvarna 401 roadster. It comes in two forms, Vitpilen and Svartpilen, which differ in tyres, bars, exhaust and bodywork. The Vit (white arrow) is more cafe racer and the Black is a bit more scrambler styled. Essentially this is a Duke 390 chassis and engine with an arty style makeover.

"The engine is good of course, the 390 motor has great character considering the capacity. The chassis is pretty slick too, and easy to get on with especially round town where we’ve been this morning. On the downside, the seat is a bit high and quite hard, and the vitpilen has a very committed wrist heavy riding position. The svartpilen is far comfier for my creaking bones...

"We’re having lunch now and heading out to the country this avvo, to see how she goes there. More later!"
