The launch of a new entry level Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 set to extend the appeal of the Swedish's firm's achingly cool naked offerings

While we wait for Husqvarna to pull the wraps off the Norden 901, the largest model in its relatively short history, it appears the Swedish firm won’t be neglecting the lower end of the scale either with the launch of the new Svartpilen 125.

The retro-inspired model, translated as Black Arrow, has been on sale since 2018 alongside the more cafe racer inspired Vitpilen (White Arrow) in 701 and 401 configurations based on the running gear of the equivalent KTM Duke 690 and 390 respectively.

Since then we have seen spy shots of a larger’ 901’ version based on the 890cc architecture that will underpin the aforementioned Norden 901 adventure bike, plus a 250cc version that has heralded the firm’s high-profile entry into the critical Indian market.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 REVIEW

Now Husqvarna looks set to broaden the Svartpilen’s appeal further again with the launch of a 125cc, borrowing this time from Bajaj, one of KTM’s collaborators and large stake owners, as used in the KTM Duke 125.

Rather than announce the model directly, a Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 has instead landed in the hands of the Le Repaire des Motards in France, all but confirming the low displacement model will be sold in Europe as an affordable new entry point into the firm’s road-based range, as well as likely be offered in Asia.

According to the publication, the 124.7cc engine generates a modest 15hp at 9,500rpm and generates 12Nm of torque, with a limited top speed of 100km/h (62mph).

While there is no confirmation the model will be UK bound for now, it is set to go on sale on mainland Europe at 4,990 euros, so expect a price of around £4,500 if and when it does reach these shores.
