Scott Redding put himself in position to extend his leading margin in the BSB Title Showdown reckoning with a dominant pole during qualifying at Donington Park.

Returning to the scene of where his 2019 BSB title campaign began to take off after claiming a trio of victories back in May, Redding was in similarly commanding form around the international loop as he put four tenths between himself and the opposition.

Despite the margin, title rival and Be Wiser Ducati team-mate Josh Brookes – who comes into the weekend 14 points shy of Redding overall – will line up alongside Redding in second position in what will prove a critical two races for the pair in the championship fight.

A strong afternoon for the Suzuki contingent, three GSX-R1000s will line up on the front two rows with Bradley Ray continuing his run of resurgent late season form with a front row spot in third, while privateer OMG Racing’s Luke Mossey was a surprise fourth best and Luke Stapleford sixth on the second of the factory Buildbase bikes.

They are split on row two by Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon, the quartet getting the better of the only other two Title Showdown contenders in Q3, Tommy Bridewell in seventh and Peter Hickman eighth.

Making his first BSB start in more than a year, Taylor Mackenzie marked his return with an impressive charge to Q3 on the Tyco BMW, ironically displacing his own title-contending brother Tarran, who will instead start in tenth.

Of the remaining Title Showdown riders, Danny Buchan has work to do from 13th on the grid aboard the FS-3 Kawasaki.
