Scott Redding has extended his advantage at the head of the 2019 British Superbike Championship standings after notching up another commanding victory from pole position at Donington Park.

The Be Wiser Ducati qualified on the top spot by a 0.4s over Josh Brookes an despite losing lead to his team-mate on the run down to turn one, snatched the advantage back on lap three and never looked back.

A dominant tenth BSB win of the season for the ex-MotoGP rider, coupled to Brookes’ eventual third place finish, Redding now leads the standings by 23 points with four races of the 2019 season to go.

Tommy Bridewell put up a strong fight having started down in seventh place, quickly working his way up to second position and at one stage lapping quicker than Redding ahead, but he’d have to settle for second position to keep his slim title hopes alive a little longer.

Brookes finished a distant third, the Australian unsettled by Redding’s overtake to briefly slip down as far as fifth position. Even so, he did come into some fortune to get the podium after long-time third place runner Christian Iddon dropped back when his foot-peg broke off, leaving him vulnerable under braking.

As such, he’d slip to sixth by the chequered flag, overtaken by both Peter Hickman and Andrew Irwin, who completed the top five.

Xavi Fores made good progress to take seventh, just holding off a charging Ryan Vickers on the RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki, while Luke Mossey and Danny Buchan rounded out the top ten.

Of the remaining Title Showdown contenders, Tarran Mackenzie was 12th, compounding a disappointing day for the Mackenzie family after Taylor – making his BSB return for Tyco this weekend – was forced to withdraw following a crash in the Superstock 1000 race. He had qualified ninth.

Elsewhere, there was frustration for front row starter Bradley Ray after he suffered a technical issue that forced him to stop whilst running fourth early on.
