Mallory Park Race of the Year to help Gino Rea recovery
Mallory Park has announced that £1 from every ticket to the Race of the Year will go to the Gino Rea rehabilitation fund
THE annual Mallory Park Race of the Year will be helping to raise funds for the Gino Rea rehabilitation fund in 2022, as £1 from every ticket sold will go to aiding Gino with his recovery.
Real Motorsport Ltd, the event organiser of the Leicester track, made the announcement on its social media channels. It confirmed that the money raised from ticket sales will be going to the neuro-rehabilitation treatment fund set up to aid his recovery.
Gino was injured in an accident at the Suzuka circuit in Japan, as he prepared to take part in the prestigious 8-hour endurance race there. What followed was a tense wait and sporadic updates from his team and race officials. Thankfully though, Rea made significant improvements, eventually returning to the UK in the first week of September.

A statement from Natalie Hansard on the Real Motorsport Facebook page read:
"Gino was crowned Champion of the Race of the Year last year and remains a good friend of the Circuit, so we want to use this year's event to help raise as much money as we can to donate to the neuro-rehab fund set up by Gino's family to aid his recovery.
We'd also like to thank Gino's sponsor Elliott from Vision CPS & Vision air conditioning & refrigeration for coming on board and sponsoring the Race of the Year."
The Race of the Year is a mainstay of the Mallory Park racing calendar, seeing BSB riders rubbing shoulders (sometimes literally!) with club racers around the short and fast family-owned circuit. It takes place on October 23rd and tickets are available now.
