Yamaha to auction Tenere 700 World Raid that won Tunisia Desert Challenge
After Two Wheels for Life raised over £15,000 at the UK WorldSBK, Yamaha has announced it will auction the bike that won the Tunisia Desert Challenge.
Yamaha has announced it will be auctioning off the bike with which it won the 2022 Tunisia Desert Challenge.
For 2022, Yamaha has partnered with Riders for Health, and its fundraising arm, Two Wheels for Life, which is also the official charity of MotoGP, to help raise money for the charity that uses motorcycles to assist healthcare workers in Africa.
In total, Yamaha wants to raise €100,000 in order to replace a fleet of motorcycles used by healthcare workers in The Gambia.
A few weeks ago, Yamaha announced that part of this partnership would be the auctioning of the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid that will compete in the Africa Eco Race (AER) later this year in October.
The precursor to Yamaha’s competition in the AER was in the Tunisia Desert Challenge (TDC). Yamaha won this race with Alessandro Botturi, and it has now announced that the bike with which Botturi won the TDC will also be auctioned in aid of Riders for Health.
The news of Yamaha’s latest rally bike auction comes in the week following the UK round of the Superbike World Championship at Donington Park.
There, Two Wheels for Life raised over £15,000 in its first auction at the event since 2019, following a Covid-induced absence.
Among the auctioned items in Donington were signed leathers and boots from reigning World Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu, as well as signed boots from six-times champion Jonathan Rea, and a signed helmet from WorldSBK legend and three-times World Champion Troy Bayliss.
