Triumph enters 2022 Baja Aragon with Tiger 900 Rally Pro and Ivan Cervantes
Ivan Cervantes is set to compete in his second event for Triumph, the Baja Aragon rally, with a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro.
Triumph will be competing in the 2022 Baja Aragon with its Tiger 900 Rally Pro and Spanish enduro star Ivan Cervantes.
It will be Cervantes’ second outing for Triumph, after he won the Maxi-Trail class at the 2022 Bassella enduro.
That Bassella win was also with a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, and now Cervantes will use it take on what is regarded as one of the most difficult rally raid events in Europe: Baja Aragon.
Fans of MotoGP and WorldSBK - or Spanish geography - will recognise Aragon as a particularly arid part of Spain, typified by its baron desert landscapes and rocky terrain.
“I am discovering a whole new world for me as a result of starting to collaborate with Triumph,” Cervantes said. “After years riding in high-end Enduro competition, new challenges arise for me, and when I heard about the premiere of the new Trail category to participate in the Baja with Triumph I thought: Let's go for it!”
Cervantes will be competing in the new-for-2022 Trail category in the Baja Aragon, alongside Harley-Davidson’s Joan Pedrero, who will be competing on a Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.
For both Triumph and Harley-Davidson, the Baja Aragon will be seen, surely, as one of the toughest tests their Tiger 900 Rally Pro and Pan America 1250, respectively, can be put through.
Certainly, it will be interesting to see how both go. For Harley, it will be the first competitive rally for the Pan America 1250, but they have in Pedrero a Dakar veteran to pilot their machine.
For Triumph, they already have some competitive experience with the Tiger 900 Rally Pro - in the aforementioned Bassella - but that experience is in enduro, not rally, and ultimately enduro is also the brand and butter of their rider, Cervantes.
