2020 Harley-Davidson LiveWire | First Ride Impressions
Visordown throws its leg over the much talked about electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire to find out if it really is the future of motorcycling
It’s been one of the most talked about motorcycles of 2019 and now the Harley-Davidson LiveWire is steadily trickling into dealerships across Europe… making this as good a time as any to throw our leg over the much anticipated electric motorcycle.
To say this is an important motorcycle for H-D is an understatement. Not only does the machine signals a significant shift in identity for a manufacturer better-known for its big, brash cruisers and baggers, but it means Harley-Davidson – perhaps surprisingly – is one of the first big firms to commit to its electric future.
While the LiveWire is arguably a taster to what will be a more accessible electric motorcycle future, it is nonetheless an intricately engineered machine designed to appeal to a fresh, younger generation of bikers both in the US and in Europe.
Having heard all the talk of price, range and performance, we’ve spent the morning riding the roads in and around Barcelona to find out EXACTLY what it’s like to ride and truth is, we’re impressed.
While it is inevitably heavier under seat than its more conventional super naked rivals, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire ‘wears it well’ and only feels like a compromise in more mundane pushing situations. Comfortable and pacey, the trade-off for going electric is perhaps less pronounced than you – or we – may have realised…
Stay tuned for the FULL VERDICT review and video in the next day but in the meantime enjoy our first ride impressions of the Harley-Davidson LiveWire…
