Harley-Davidson hasn’t strayed far from the headlines at Visordown in recent months, whether it’s the new electric LiveWire, adventure-spec PanAmerica or plans for smaller, more affordable global ranges.

However, while these are all new markets symptomatic of H-D’s desire to diversify its line-up, its range is still dominated by its myriad of powerful, cruiser and Softail models that have forged its image over the decades.

As such, we couldn’t resist getting out on the Harley-Davidson FXDR 114, the most powerful model in the American marque’s range with 90HP generated from its 1868cc V-Twin engine, plus a staggering 160Nm of torque hauling you down the freeway (well, motorway…).

It’s also one of the more striking models in Harley-Davidson’s line-up, representing a more modern taken on the Softail silhouette with its low-slung drag profile, matte finish and chiselled lines to give it a more aggressive appearance.

Compared to the Fat Bob, the Harley-Davidson FXDR has a more sport orientated focus with performance brakes and forks, though it isn’t going to chase after a Ducati Diavel or Triumph Rocket 3 at the lights any time soon.

Watch the video to find out more about technical specifications – including suspension and braking – as well as riding feel.

And if you’re in the Harley-Davison frame of mind, why not watch our FULL REVIEW of the LiveWire electric motorcycle after we got the chance to put the high-profile new machine through its paces during a test in Barcelona. Will it be the bike to revolutionise the electric sector?
